Hull color

Kade Research Ltd. has been successful in developing black hulled buckwheat. Koto is the first variety that has been registered with this characteristic. Other hull colors, such as silver or reddish brown are being developed for variety identification. Different hull colors are being utilized for identification of different types of buckwheat, such as lines having frost tolerance. It will also be of benefit in allowing identification of varieties registered under Plant Breeders Rights.
