Allergic reaction

A very small percentage of people may develop an allergic reaction to buckwheat. The major protein responsible for the allergic reaction in buckwheat has been identified and sequenced. The same protein has also been found in many of the other related species. Work is underway to alter or remove this protein by natural methods and therefore reduce or eliminate the allergic reaction.
